Locally, I know KCPW and KPCW do on-air auctions as part of their fundraising efforts.

I think it's interesting that Pacific Empire Radio's entire eastern Idaho cluster is doing an on-air auction. What is the benefit to these advertisers to risk losing money on their auctions? For details on offerings - look to:

or
http://www.102kmgi.com (yes I realize they really need some help on these sites to have some good Web design, although 106 just got a much needed facelift)

IF I'm not mistaking Sam I believe the old KSOS 800am use to do on air auctions to raise money but I'm not sure if it was to go to the station or to go to charity groups. I do remember they use to do it Saturday mornings and I think during the noon time hour? Now help me out, was it KSOS or another Ogden station?

Well this on-air auction thing has been interesting. It's still going on and it started at 9 am (It's now 12:30 pm).

They sent people to a dead web site at one point though (http://www.espn930.com)... and I think they should have worked with the phone company to forward one number into all their lines - right now they're repeating about 5 on-air bid lines as well as two toll-free numbers.

KCPW's is a lot more organized (and seems less frenzied).

I'm amazed how many businesses are in on this thing though, I hope some of the $ is going to charity, not just Pacific Empire.

Offerings list:
http://www.102kmgi.com/auction.htm I guess this is to try to show "Radio gets results"?
